Joining a Meeting

Section titled “How participants join”From Moodle
Section titled “From Moodle”- Go to the BigBlueButton activity in the Moodle course
- Click Join session
- You are taken to the SoftSysVideo meeting room in your browser
No download or plugin is needed. The meeting room runs entirely in the browser.
From a direct link
Section titled “From a direct link”If you received a direct link to a meeting (not via Moodle), open the link in your browser.

Device setup screen
Section titled “Device setup screen”Before entering the meeting room, you will see a setup screen where you can:
- Select your camera — choose which camera to use (if you have multiple)
- Select your microphone — choose your audio input device
- Test your audio — play a test sound to verify your speakers work
- Check your connection — a quick network quality check
- Choose a virtual background — if your organization has this feature enabled
Click Join when you’re ready.
Waiting for the moderator
Section titled “Waiting for the moderator”If the teacher has enabled Wait for moderator, you will see a waiting screen until they join. You don’t need to do anything — the meeting room opens automatically when the moderator arrives.
Camera and microphone permissions
Section titled “Camera and microphone permissions”Your browser will ask permission to access your camera and microphone. Click Allow when prompted.
If you accidentally blocked permissions:
- Click the camera/lock icon in the browser address bar
- Allow camera and microphone access
- Reload the page
