Section titled “General”What is SoftSysVideo?
Section titled “What is SoftSysVideo?”SoftSysVideo is a video conferencing platform designed as a drop-in replacement for BigBlueButton (BBB) in Moodle. It uses the same API that Moodle expects from a BBB server, so you can connect it without changing your Moodle plugin.
Do I need to install anything on my server?
Section titled “Do I need to install anything on my server?”No. SoftSysVideo is fully cloud-based. The only thing required is configuring the BigBlueButton plugin in your Moodle settings to point to SoftSysVideo.
Does it work with the standard Moodle BigBlueButton plugin?
Section titled “Does it work with the standard Moodle BigBlueButton plugin?”Yes. SoftSysVideo implements the BigBlueButton API that Moodle’s mod_bigbluebuttonbn plugin uses. No plugin modifications are needed.
What Moodle versions are supported?
Section titled “What Moodle versions are supported?”Moodle 3.9 and above. Moodle 4.x (4.0, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4) and 5.0 are all tested and supported.
Meetings
Section titled “Meetings”How many participants can join a meeting?
Section titled “How many participants can join a meeting?”SoftSysVideo scales automatically. For specific limits on your plan, contact support.
Can I use SoftSysVideo without Moodle?
Section titled “Can I use SoftSysVideo without Moodle?”Yes. You can create and join meetings directly from the dashboard at app.softsysvideo.com.
Can meetings be scheduled in advance?
Section titled “Can meetings be scheduled in advance?”Meetings are created in Moodle when a teacher creates a BigBlueButton activity. The activity can have opening/closing times that control when students can join.
Does the meeting room require a download?
Section titled “Does the meeting room require a download?”No. The meeting room runs entirely in the browser using WebRTC. Participants don’t need to install anything.
Recordings
Section titled “Recordings”Are meetings recorded automatically?
Section titled “Are meetings recorded automatically?”No. Recording must be enabled per activity in Moodle by the teacher. Recordings do not start automatically.
Where are recordings stored?
Section titled “Where are recordings stored?”Recordings are stored securely in the cloud. They are accessible through Moodle and through the SoftSysVideo dashboard.
How long does it take for a recording to be available?
Section titled “How long does it take for a recording to be available?”Usually a few minutes. For longer meetings, processing may take up to 10 minutes.
Do recordings expire?
Section titled “Do recordings expire?”No. Recordings are kept until you delete them manually.
Can students download recordings?
Section titled “Can students download recordings?”Students can play recordings through Moodle. Download options for students depend on your plan. Administrators can always download recordings from the dashboard.
Billing

Section titled “How much does it cost?”SoftSysVideo uses a prepaid credit model:
- Video: $0.006 per participant·minute
- Recording: $0.03 per recorded minute
Is there a monthly subscription fee?
Section titled “Is there a monthly subscription fee?”No. You pay only for usage. Credits are prepaid and never expire.
What happens if my credits run out?
Section titled “What happens if my credits run out?”New meetings will be blocked until you add more credits. Ongoing meetings are not interrupted.
Does SoftSysVideo offer a free trial?
Section titled “Does SoftSysVideo offer a free trial?”Contact support to ask about trial options for your organization.
Technical
Section titled “Technical”Can I use SoftSysVideo on mobile?
Section titled “Can I use SoftSysVideo on mobile?”Yes. The meeting room supports Chrome and Safari on iOS and Android.
What browsers are supported?
Section titled “What browsers are supported?”Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari (all recent versions).
Is the connection encrypted?
Section titled “Is the connection encrypted?”Yes. All connections use HTTPS and WebRTC with end-to-end encryption for media streams.
Is my data secure?
Section titled “Is my data secure?”SoftSysVideo runs on a global infrastructure. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Each tenant’s data is fully isolated.
